2 - Who are you as the Landlord?

Being a landlord requires a change in mindset.

You leave the mind of simply owning a property and transcend into the lives of others.

Being a landlord can be a rewarding yet challenging occupation. It is a balancing act between spending smart and providing an overall long-term positive cash flow.

Simply put, you are earning income by managing the process of people and things existing in a space for a period of time.

Who are you in the process?

a. As an individual you want to stand tall amongst the crowd.  You have taken on the responsibility to be an Owner, the caretaker of a certain piece of property, “to love and to hold until it is sold.”

b. As that caretaker, your goal is to maximize the potential to get some satisfaction for yourself out of that property.

c. What becomes apparent quickly is that your actions directly impact the rate at which you get something out of that property.  As an individual you learn quickly that doing everything by yourself slows down the return on your investment.  Some people are happy to stay at this level.  But, for most of the rest of us we realize that to truly succeed in the long term and to reduce our overall risk we need several places and many people to increase that equity curve of success.

Change your mindset using practical means and methods to maximize your potential for long term profit and sustainability.

You want to maximize your investment and make the process of ownership as seamless as possible.  In order to do this, consider the initial property condition and possible risks and plan ahead versus reacting to possible problems with people or the building.

Being a landlord is a commitment.  It is part of the secret to long-term accumulation of wealth for you and for generations to come.  It is a commitment to exercise one of the greatest freedoms - being able to own a piece of Mother Earth and pass it on to the future.

Those with a comprehensive plan tend to succeed exponentially more than those without a plan. A real plan of action as to how you will act versus how you will not react will be your strategic key to success.
